American Naprapathic Association

The American Naprapathic Association (ANA) is the nation's oldest and largest association of Naprapaths. Originally founded in 1909, the ANA is a non-profit organization whose members are dedicated to protecting, preserving, promoting and expanding the manual medicine discipline of Naprapathy in all of its endeavors.

Membership is open to all individuals with a Doctor of Naprapathy (D.N.) degree or who is otherwise licensed to practice Naprapathy in their State. There are also Affiliated Memberships and Student/Intern memberships available for those who are studying to be Naprapaths or who have been trained in Naprapathic technique by ANA-approved schools in unlicensed states.

All of our members have a strong commitment to the philosophy, art and science of manual medicine as originally conceived by Dr. Oakley Smith, DN, exercise rehabilitation, postural ergonomics, sound holistic nutritional advice and advancing the profession through evidence-based medicine that supports the basis of naprapathy and manual medicine in general.

Membership in this organization provides a multitude of benefits. First and foremost, the ANA strives to expand the profession and monitors and supports legislation that enhances the professional growth of the science of Naprapathy.

The ANA schedules bi-annual conventions providing excellent continuing health care education and opportunities for networking with health care colleagues. We are a State of Illinois Approved Sponsor for Illinois-licensed Doctors of Naprapathy.

Presenters come from around the world sharing their knowledge and experience in manual medicine and related disciplines. The annual conventions and various other educational seminars offer you an opportunity to meet colleagues and form valuable supportive friendships with others sharing similar views.

As a member of the ANA you will receive significant discounts to ANA sponsored educational seminars. You are also eligible for membership in any ANA-approved state association of Naprapathy.

Because ANA is the leader in the field of Naprapathic medicine, we are recognized by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as the primary organization that accredits Naprapathy in Illinois.

According to the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations  per the Illinois Naprapathic Act Rules, the American Naprapathic Association provides curriculum oversight for all Naprapathic higher educational institutions in Illinois.

MAKING PROGRESS with Blue Cross Blue Shiled - DEADLINE FOR CONTRACTS JULY 31st, 2017!

The INA and ANA have been contacted by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Illinois to move forward the profession of Naprapathy being listed as a "Solicitable Entity" in BC/BS networks.

We have been asked to provide them with an email list of Naprapaths in Illinois so that they can send out information should you wish to participate. You should be receiving information from them within the next couple months.

A solicitable provider basically means a specific provider type/specialty is "eligible" to participate and contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL). Their current list of solicitable/eligible provider types and specialty descriptions listed on their website (should you wish to see it) under the Network Participation section is HERE

Once a "solicitable" provider has chosen to execute a PPO contract, the provider is considered in-network and subject to the PPO fee schedule and contractual requirements.

Again, more information will be forthcoming as it relates to the specific communications materials; They will share these directly with you for your review. The emails we provided to them will serve as one of several channels of communication (ie, USPS, email, etc) not only to send BCBSIL application packets but also to follow-up on the application status.

SPRING 2016 UPDATE

The American Naprapathic Association wishes to thank all the participants who attended the "Root Causes" seminar. It was a terrific presentation with several engaging expert presenters.

We also wish to thank Daniel Varanauski, DN for his many years of tireless service and for the energy he brought to the Association. Dr Varanauski stepped down from the ANA President's role as of 5/15/16 but was willing to continue to serve on the board as the Association's Secretary.

We hereby wish to congratulate Wayne Cichowicz, DN as the newly elected ANA President! Dr Cichowicz has proudly served in multiple roles in several Naprapathic entities - including Dean of Admissions and Director of Alumni at National College of Naprapathic Medicine. Dr Cichowicz is well-known to the Naprpathic community and we are certain he will prove to be an excellent leader.

In addition to our new president, the ANA Members have also elected Mary Cavender, DN to the role of Director of Membership and Shante Griggs, DN, as Director of Business Affairs and Development. Congrats to you all!

There are still a few board positions available. If interested, please contact Erin Paulsen, DN. Also, please sign up today for best rates at our Support Naprapathy page.
